After asking you to pick from over 100 couples, Hypable’s shipping tournament BattleShips officially begins with the top 32! And it all kicks off with Teen Wolf‘s Stiles & Lydia vs New Girl‘s Nick & Jess.
BattleShips is a shipping competition that we began back in 2012, and it’s been a tradition almost every year since.
Each year we pick a theme for BattleShips. We’ve put the runner-ups against each other and we had one with exclusively book ships. This year we’re going back to basics!
BattleShips 2017 is going to be all about ships on currently airing TV shows. Since it’s season finale time that means shows that have not been cancelled for the 2017-2018 season. Sorry, The Vampire Diaries fans!
Shows that have been cancelled after BattleShips 2017 began are still eligible and won’t be removed from the competition.
And yes you read that right, we’ve extended the tournament to the top 32 couples instead of just the top 24! Why? You can thank this writer’s goofy math skills for that one.
In today’s round we have Stiles & Lydia from Teen Wolf going against Nick & Jess from New Girl in a standard versus battle. The poll will be open for 48 hours from the time it was posted.
Teen Wolf and New Girl fans have two days to battle it out and see which ship can get the most votes, and whoever wins will move forward to the rest of the tournament to see if they can be named Hypable’s Ship of the Year.
However, if you or your fandom decide to find out ways to cheat, scam or con your way to the next round, we will crown the other ship winner of the round.
We have our eyes on all the social networks and we’ll be able to figure out if your fandom is cheating, so don’t ruin it for everyone!
Sudden Death
We know that races can get pretty close, so that’s why we’ve created the sudden death round. If a versus round between ships ends with a margin of 150 votes or less then the next day there will be a Sudden Death battle.
This year sudden death battles will last for 12 hours. If your ship lost the standard versus round then you’ll have 12 hours for another chance! All Sudden Death battle results are final, even if it’s just by one vote.
Every single vote counts, so be sure to spread the word if your OTP has to battle it out again – use Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and any other means to make sure your favorite couple wins.
