A new copyeditor position has opened up here at Hypable, and we’re hoping one of you can join our staff!

We’re searching for someone who can be on call for our morning (9 a.m. EST to 1:00 p.m. EST) or afternoon shift (1:00 p.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. EST). A preference will go towards those who can be available every day of the week, though the weekends are usually quite a slow time for us.

As a copyeditor, you will ensure that the articles published during your shift are error-free and in line with our formatting standards. This job is of extreme importance to us to ensure our content is as professional as possible. Your name will appear on each article you edit to give you credit for your time, and this will be a great way to hone your English skills!

The ideal candidate will:
– have a strong command of the English language
– be a bit of a grammar snob
– have a background in writing and/or editing
– be knowledgeable with WordPress (though this is not a requirement, as we will train you)
– have somewhat flexible hours if someone needs to switch shifts

This is a volunteer position, but there are perks: Hypable can offer college internship credits or give you the experience you need for a job further down the line. As a copyeditor at Hypable, you’ll have the responsibility of reviewing content that is seen by tens of thousands of people on a daily basis (and millions of people on a monthly basis). For this reason, it is critical all content is reviewed carefully.

To apply to writers@hypable.com, include…
– Your name, age, and the state/region you live in
– Which shift you can take: morning or afternoon
– Tell us if you’re available on weekdays and usually on weekends
– What your past/present experience in writing or copyediting is
– Tell us why you would make a great addition to our team
– Optionally: Include an example of your own writing abilities, and let us know which fandoms you frequently follow on Hypable

Note: We are looking for someone who can begin as soon as possible! You’ll join our existing copyeditors Brandi and Karen, who will train you.

If you apply over the next couple days, we will be in touch quickly if we think you’d be a good addition to our team.
