Hypable is seeking a new writer to join our ranks!

We are currently seeking a volunteer to write two to three stories about the movie industry every weekday. We are particularly looking for someone who is a Star Wars expert, and who will lead our coverage on all news about the upcoming trilogy and spinoffs. This person will also be asked to do the occasional feature going deeper into Star Wars. You know all those crazy Harry Potter features we do? We want someone who can do that, but for Star Wars.

Obviously Star Wars news isn’t going to be breaking every day (though some weeks it may feel like that!), so we’re looking for someone who is well versed in everything Hollywood. You will be asked to write stories about the biggest movie franchises as they make their way through development and release.

As one of our lead movie writers, the following will be required of you:

– Two to three movie stories Monday through Friday at 300 words minimum per article. This is an absolute necessity. Please do not apply if you will not have time (which we estimate will take about 90 minutes to two hours of daily writing, especially at the beginning when you’re learning our ropes).
– You must be available each weekday in the late morning and early afternoon hours eastern time.
– A strong command of the English language.
– A great sense of humor. We want your reports to have a unique voice!
– A strong knowledge of movies past and present.
– Willing and able to work with others. You’ll be communicating with many of the Hypable staff members daily through our work group. We have a lot of fun together, so we want you to bring the same energy!

To apply, please email writers@hypable.com with the following:

  1. Your name, age, and location.
  2. Why you think you’d be great for the role of movie writer. This includes background on your knowledge of the movie industry as well as why you have time to write three articles a day for us.
  3. Attach or include two to three links to your previous writing work. Great writing is extremely important to us, as is a strong voice in your work.
  4. If you’re looking to do this as an internship for college, please let us know.

This is a volunteer position on the site, but Hypable can provide a couple of helpful benefits. If you are a college student, Hypable can offer unpaid internship credits. Not in college? If you’re looking to have a career in the entertainment industry, Hypable is a great place to start. As a writer, your work will be published on a site visited by well over a million people on a monthly basis. You will be growing with us as we work to achieve online media domination, and if your work is great we’ll happily provide you with a reference.

Please submit your application by Friday, September 4. Thank you to all who apply!
