Ahh, Fall. Leaves start turning, movies take a dramatic turn, and television gears up for another splendid season. It’s the most wonderful time of the year if you ask us, and the race for Hypable Honors gets mighty interesting…

It’s definitely our favorite time of the year. There are so many things to be excited about in the Fall that it’s hard to keep our excitement tempered while we debate which movies will be up for awards consideration and what shows will get renewed next May.

Another thing we get excited about is highlighting the amazing performances that stand out above the crowd as new shows premiere, old favorites return, and movies take our weekends by storm. This week’s selections for Hypable Honors fall more into the favorites and movies categories, but have no fear, the new shows will have their moment in the sun soon enough.

Hypable Honors

Show: ‘The Mindy Project’

Actor: Chris Messina

How much do you think Chris Messina regrets telling the producers of The Mindy Project that he can dance? After last year’s amazing recreation of the Aaliyah hip-hop dance during the Christmas episode, Messina’s dance moves made a reappearance in The Mindy Project season 3 premiere in a big way.

In order to pay for medical school, Danny became a stripper under the moniker ‘Diamond Dan.’ After finding the thong in his drawer, Mindy is shocked, a little hurt he didn’t trust her enough to tell her about his past, and definitely turned on. In the end, Danny accepted ‘Diamond Dan’ would always be a part of him, but now he gets to put his moves on Mindy, and we don’t think either of them mind too much. We hope this isn’t the last we hear of ‘Dan’ but at the very least, lets hope for more Messina dance moves.

Movie: ‘The Maze Runner’

Actor: Aml Ameen

The entire cast of The Maze Runner could have been chosen this week, as each and every member does an incredible job of bringing whichever Glader they’ve taken on as their own to life, but Aml Ameen stands out among the crowd.

Alby is one of those ‘wise beyond his years’ types of characters. You can’t help but like him, especially as he goes out of his way to help Thomas adjust to life in the Glade. Aml brings that wisdom and strength to the character without being showy or grabbing attention that he doesn’t need. Just like Alby, Aml steps onto the screen and demands respect from the viewer. We hand it over because not only is it deserved, but it would feel wrong to deny a character as tortured as Alby the credit he deserves.

We hope this is just the beginning of a long, fruitful career for Aml, and we will be looking forward to seeing him shine on screen for many years to come.
