It’s not even finale season yet, and we’ve already said goodbyes to two incredibly powerful characters from some of our favorite ABC shows. We bid farewell to them with Hypable Honors.

Okay people, we haven’t even reached the season finale portion of 2015, and we’ve already said goodbyes to two of our favorite characters. How is this happening, and what are we gonna do when the finales hit? Breathe. No more panicking. We do, however, need to pay proper tribute to those that will no longer be gracing our screens every week.

Grey’s Anatomy and Revenge have never shied away from killing characters or raising the bar as far as drama is concerned, and both shocked us this week as two of their biggest characters’ stories came to abrupt ends. We are saddened to have to say goodbye to these incredible characters, but at least we still have wonderful futures ahead for the actors that played them.

With no further ado, we present to you this week’s selections for Hypable Honors:

Hypable Honors

Show: ‘Revenge’

Actor: Madeleine Stowe

Victoria Grayson has been through a bit of a rough patch as of late, actually, pretty much her entire life. Yes she may have been a big socialite in the Hamptons, and always hosted the biggest annual parties for every season. That doesn’t mean she didn’t have her hardships.

Victoria was manipulated by her mother and forced to give up her son at a very young age. She had a son with her late husband Conrad and a daughter with her love, David Clarke. Victoria’s arch nemesis, Emily Thorne, aka Amanda Clarke, did an exclusive interview and called out Victoria on her wrong-doings. Once that was out Victoria felt defeated and decided to finish off “what Emily couldn’t.”

In a turn of events, last week’s episode, “Burn,” had Victoria, sitting in her Revenge chair in her old house and Emily’s current home. Victoria turned on some gas and then ignited a lighter setting fire to herself, the chair, and the entirety of Grayson Manor.

Victoria Grayson has been a complicated character from the start and we can truly say that we’ll miss seeing Madeleine Stowe on our television screens.

Show: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Actor: Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo

Last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy had us saying goodbye to a character that has been beloved and cherished since he picked up Meredith in that bar 11 seasons ago. It’s hard to imagine the show without Patrick Dempsey’s McDreamy Derek Shepherd, but he isn’t the only one we have to commend for his performance last night. Watching Ellen Pompeo’s character say goodbye with only her kids by her side was one of the saddest moments we’ve ever seen on the show that has also included ferry boat crashes, trail derailments, shooters in the hospital, and plane crashes.

The couple that is MerDer has grounded the show from its inception, giving the audience a through line to follow no matter who or what else came and went. In 11 seasons, it would be impossible to keep a cast this large intact, so having one pair to keep everything in perspective has been invaluable.

That all ended with the unexpected death of Derek Shepherd. Patrick Dempsey spent the majority of the episode running around a wooded roadway helping victims of a crash caused by an irresponsible driver. He used his most famous line, “It’s a beautiful day to save lives,” in a perfect way, but we couldn’t believe that this episode was almost completely absent of all the friends and family he has had at his back since season 1.

Ellen Pompeo started her impressive performance at the conclusion of last week’s episode when we first saw her staring out a window at the red and blue flashing lights of a patrol car. Watching Meredith’s acceptance of Derek’s fate in such a composed and yet volatile way proved that Meredith has come a long way since she almost let herself drown in season 3.

We will miss seeing this happy couple grow old together with their children, but if there’s one thing we’ve always known about Grey’s Anatomy, it’s that anything can happen at any time. Case after case has proven that crazy things can happen in life, and sometimes you just have to pick up the pieces and trudge forward till whatever you’ve lost feels a little less suffocating. We will miss you, Derek.
