This week’s Hypable Honors is all about hellos and goodbyes. Beginnings and endings are just a part of life, but when it comes to the pop culture we love, they definitely stand out.

We are just a few short weeks away from the start of 2014’s Fall TV season, but we’ve already said a few hellos and one extremely sad goodbye. True Blood completed its seventh season this past Sunday, and we are all sad to see the Bon Temps clan go.

Peeking through those tears, we were also treated to a rather charming hello from a fresh start on Doctor Who with a Doctor that is no-nonsense and has eyebrows for days. A new era has begun, and while it may be vampire-light and eyebrow-laden, we are optimistic that even better stories are just over the horizon.

Hypable Honors

Show: ‘Doctor Who’

Actor: Peter Capaldi

It’s never easy to simply move on when a Doctor regenerates. It’s one of the hardest transitions on television (that’s our story and we’re sticking to it). Matt Smith did an absolutely remarkable job as the Doctor, so filling those shoes is a truly tremendous task. Thank goodness we have an actor as accomplished as Peter Capaldi to jump right on in.

In his first full episode as the Doctor, Capaldi enchanted us with his wits, his eccentricities, and of course those eyebrows. Holding one’s own alongside the Paternoster gang is no small feat, but Capaldi managed it with poise to spare. Equal parts snarky, heroic, and mischievous, this new Doctor is a tough puzzle to crack, but we’re convinced that by the end of series 8 we will not only understand him, but we’re pretty sure we’ll have grown attached. He is the Doctor after all.

We are most anxious to see where the adventure will take Twelve and Clara next, as rumors begin to circulate about what the future holds for these two. Capaldi bewitched us in his premiere episode, and we are watching the seconds tick by till tomorrow brings our next adventure.

Show: ‘True Blood’

Actor: Anna Paquin

The True Blood finale aired this past Sunday, so it would be rude of us to not say a fond farewell to Anna Paquin’s Sookie Stackhouse. The character has been with us for seven years, and whether or not you agreed with how the finale went down (We didn’t like it. At all.), you have to at least admit that Sookie’s arc was beautiful. She loved her town and everyone in it. All she wanted was for everyone – including herself – to be happy. As we saw in the flash forward, Sookie did find her happiness in a husband and an upcoming baby. We just hope that Bill is looking down from the vampire heavens (he went to heaven… right?) and is smiling down on his good decision.

Paquin always put on a great portrayal of Sookie, never floundering in the sometimes weird situations or dialogue that the show’s writers threw at her. We can’t wait to see what she does next (after that well-earned vacation).

In honor of Sookie Stackhouse and the seven fun-filled seasons she brought us, here is just one of our favorite Sookie moments from season 5:
