San Francisco’s Noise Pop didn’t lose any of its momentum on Tuesday night as the week-long festival continued to deliver a diverse line up of shows in intimate music venues across the city.

Read on for an overview of the night and find out which bands stood out among the rest!

Bottom of the Hill–a popular music stop in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood–played host to new wave surf rock groups, The Fresh & Onlys, R. Stevie Moore, Plateaus, and Burnt Ones. Rich with up-tempo guitar riffs and pleasantly mellow reverb-heavy vocals, festival goers were treated to some amazing performances.

Across town in San Francisco’s tenderloin district, the Rickshaw Stop housed a line up of acts that would have pleased any fan of pop fuzz or ’80s British power pop. From Ceremony, Terry Malts, Comadre to Permanent Ruin and Synthetic ID, the Rickshaw was one of Noise Pop’s most upbeat venues for the night.

Hypable staffers hit up San Francisco’s Brick & Mortar Music Hall in the city’s Mission district where the line up was heavy on indie alternative bands from across the Bay Area.

MAHGEETAH

In their Noise Pop debut, Americana indie rock band, Mahgeetah, stood out amongst their co-lining peers with a diverse sound that the audience gravitated towards.

Rich in 1960s and 1970s rock, Mahgeetah doesn’t shy away from incorporating an array of genres and melding them into smooth, modern day indie/alternative music.

With influences in blues and folk, along with a vocally talented staff of musicians, this San Francisco band delivers an impressive live performance and are one to watch!

SOCIAL STUDIES

This five-piece San Francisco band combines synth pop and rock with tantalizing vocals from keyboardist Natalia Rogovin.

But unlike other bands with such strong lead vocals, Social Studies‘ musicality proves that their mark on the indie scene has only just begun.

From sultry percussion to anxious guitar riffs paired with complex harmonies, this modernist pop/rock band pushes the boundaries of their genre and transcends what we know about the indie scene.

With the success of their album Wind Up Wooden Heart behind them, Social Studies is preparing to bring their all on their sophomore album, Developer.

Check out Social Studies below, as we’re sure you’ll love them.
