A new major character, played by Hunter Parrish, is being added to the chaos in Quantico season 2.

Deadline has reported that Hunter Parrish, best known for his role on Weeds and his many starring roles on Broadway, will be joining the cast of Quantico in the back half of season 2. Parrish’s part is described as a “major recurring role.”

The character will enter the series in the future timeline, where Alex has recently gotten herself into a sticky situation with the G20 crisis. Hunter Parrish will be playing a political strategist, and will be joining forces with both the CIA and the FBI during the aftermath of the crisis.

Given the fact that we currently have no idea who’s actually working for the FBI, the CIA, the AIC, or any other party that might be involved, this character could be useful in determining who’s on which side. Why a political strategist would be forced to get involved, we’ll have to wait and see.

Quantico creator, Joshua Safran, had this to say about Parrish’s involvement:

“It’s been a total delight having Hunter in the show, as he’s an actor I’ve wanted to work with for quite some time. The role was written specifically for him, and I believe the audience will very much enjoy his character once they see how he fits into the story.”

Safran had similar things to say about Russell Tovey and his character Harry Doyle when that casting was announced. Harry has been one of the stand out characters of Quantico season 2, so it looks like Safran has great taste.

Hopefully Parrish’s character will be just as interesting, and also shed some light on what the hell is happening in the future timeline!

Quantico returns on Monday, January 23 on ABC.
