Weeds vet Hunter Parrish has locked in his next starring role on television!

According to Yahoo, Hunter Parrish has officially signed on to star in The CW’s upcoming Jane the Virgin spinoff, Jane the Novela.

The upcoming spinoff, which picked up a pilot order at the beginning of the year, is being described as an anthology series where each season is based off of a different fictional novel “written” by Jane Villanueva.

Parrish, best known for playing Silas Botwin on Showtime’s crime dramedy Weeds, joins previously announced cast member Jacqueline Grace Lopez.

The first story in the upcoming anthology series takes place in San Francisco and in the neighboring Napa Valley wine country.

It’ll focus on an up-and-coming art curator Estela (Lopez), who finds herself torn between her head of security boyfriend Luen, and a handsome rich guy in the wine business named Felix (Parrish).

As with Jane the Virgin, Jane the Novela will be inspired by the seriously addictive telenovela genre, meaning we can expect tons of drama, suspense, and a hidden family secret or two along the way!

Others who’ve signed on to star in the upcoming pilot include al Carabello, Marcia Cross, and Holland Roden.

Behind the scenes, Jane writer Valentia Garza will return to serve as writer on the new series. Also returning is Gina Rodriguez, who along with serving as an executive producer, will also narrate the series as Jane.
