Admist rumors that first surfaced earlier this year, Lionsgate has announced that Julianne Moore will play President Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.

President Coin enters The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins during Mockingjay as the leader of the rebellion against the Capitol. It is the third and final book in the series, but Mockingjay will be split into two films hitting theaters November 2014 and November 2015.

Moore is best known for her roles in The Kids Are Alright, Crazy, Stupid, Love and the award-winning HBO movie Game Change in which she starred as Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. She joins a long list of major actors part of the book-to-film franchise. Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland round out an impressive line up of stars.

Lionsgate is expected to begin filming Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 sometime this month. The cast will take a break from filming in November to promote Catching Fire, the highly-anticipated Hunger Games sequel hitting theaters on November 22.

The three remaining films all have Francis Lawrence at the helm.
