Lionsgate has unveiled the teaser poster for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1.

The poster depicts the iconic mockingjay seen on the book covers and in the film’s promotional material. This time, the bird has broken free and spread its wings.

We had a brief glimpse at the mockingjay at the end of the Catching Fire movie. The film ended on a big cliffhanger when we saw it in theaters this past November: Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) learns that a rebellion has been in the planning stages right under her nose thanks to Plutarch (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), and others.

For comparisons sake, take a look at The Hunger Games and Catching Fire teaser posters below. The two birds mimic the ones that appear on the book covers, while Mockingjay’s book and movie birds differ slightly.

We have to wonder if Mockingjay, Part 2’s teaser poster will follow this trend, or if it will do something else entirely.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 will hit theaters this November 21, 2014. Part 2 will be released one year later in November 2015. Both are directed by Francis Lawrence, who also helmed Catching Fire.

The film’s official U.K. Twitter account has been teasing some sort of news on Friday, January 24 using the tagline “Hope Returns.” They wrote on Twitter yesterday, “Citizens of #Panem. Remember this date: 24.01.14. All will become clear soon.” We don’t know if this is related to this poster unveiling or something else. Stay tuned!
