Timed with the start of Catching Fire ticket sales, Fandango has released a featurette looking at the decision to shoot the movie in IMAX.

As discussed by director Francis Lawrence and star Jennifer Lawrence (who plays Katniss), those who attend IMAX screenings will see the screen become wider at the start of the 75th annual Hunger Games. The idea is that Katniss and the viewer are entering a whole new world with a wider perspective.

Watch the featurette below. Notably, we see a couple new clips including President Snow addressing the Victors during the parade. We also see a bit of Katniss entering the arena that we don’t believe we’ve seen before. The remaining clips were previously seen in the trailer.

“We decided to use the IMAX thematically for the arena. We decided we’re going to stay in scope all the way up to the moment as she’s going into the arena, then as she’s going up that elevator the screen will open up,” says the director.

“That is such an incredible moment to choose to go into IMAX because she’s kind of seeing this new world,” adds Jennifer.

Will you see ‘Catching Fire’ in IMAX?

It’s going to be hard to resist watching the screen open up into a wider perspective at the start of The Hunger Games, so we’ll probably grab tickets for IMAX.

Catching Fire opens in theaters November 22.
