A couple days ago Director Peter Jackson shared a photo of himself with Hugo Weaving on the set of The Hobbit, despite the fact that an official casting announcement had not been made.
Stuff.co.nz (a New Zealand news source) now reports that Weaving is indeed on board.
He will play Elrond as he did in the Lord of the Rings films!
