HTGAWM season 6, episode 12, “Let’s Hurt Him,” put the lives of many characters on the line.

When you start throwing the death penalty around, things get very complicated, and that’s exactly what happened in HTGAWM season 6, episode 12.

Luckily, the extra complications had a unifying effect on the team, bringing them together in a way that we’ve been longing to see.

It was one thing for Connor and Michaela to lie to put Annalise in prison, but quite another to lie to have her killed. I’m so glad we got to witness their crisis of faith in this moment.

They have a nearly impossible decision to make, but the prospect of sending a relatively innocent women to her death actually made it a little easier. Especially a women with whom they have such a complex history.

It was lucky Gabriel had exactly what they all needed to defend themselves, but unfortunately, Vivian wasn’t going to let that happen. I thought it was really interesting that Annalise refused to use Gabriel’s testimony, but she had no problem using Connor and Michaela’s recording.

I’m still not sure if it was some sort of retaliation for the deal that they took, if she really only protected Gabriel for Vivian’s sake, or if she just thought they could handle it.

Either way, the dream team of Tegan and Annalise lawyered hard and thankfully got the death penalty taken off the table. I’m so excited to see these two ladies continue to kick ass and slay whatever dragons come at them in the final few episodes of How to Get Away With Murder.

I honestly thought Robert would be running for the hills, but regrettably, he’s still hanging on. Take a hint, dude. She’s obviously not interested!

That being said, he might actually come in handy if he gets Tegan to admit that she has feelings for Annalise. Is it weird that I’m not worried about how “unprofessional” that relationship would be at all? Because I’m definitely not.

There’s only three episodes of HTGAWM left, and they need to get moving on some romances that will live past the series. I have complete faith that Tegan’s ability to provide adequate legal counsel would not be affected, so what are they waiting for?

In the romance department, it’s been a surprisingly slow season. There’s obviously the perpetual perfection of Connor and Oliver, but other than that, it’s been pretty dry. At least we got some gains in the Frank and Bonnie department in HTGAWM season 6, episode 12.

I think this episode put the final nail in the coffin of Flaurel. It’s sad, but at this point, I’d pretty much given up hope, considering Laurel has been MIA for the entire season. At least it looks like Frank and Bonnie will be able to find happiness together.

It seems that Frank has finally come to terms with why he and Laurel would never work. She was drawn to him because he was like her father, but that’s the same reason why she could never truly accept him. Bonnie sees and loves him in his entirety.

We also learned that Jorge began coming after Annalise because Laurel asked him to find Frank.

So, this all stemmed from the fact that Jorge couldn’t handle Flaurel… It honestly seems a little thin, but the Castillos are so crazy, I can wrap my head around Jorge going to war over less.

Even Xavier seems to realize how ridiculous his father has been because he completely caved under Frank’s questioning. He was willing to sell his father out to walk away free, without any qualms about it.

And then, Nate happened.

What the hell was Frank thinking letting Nate be alone with Xavier? He has only proven himself to be completely unhinged when it comes to anything related to his father, and Frank basically served him a scapegoat on a silver platter.

Of course, it was heartbreaking to learn that his father was just a pawn in Birkhead’s plan, but what reason could possibly have justified what happened?

I would love to have some hope that Nate has a plan, and killing their chance at freedom was worth it, but…I really don’t.

In fact, at this point I’d even believe that he killed Xavier just to spite Annalise. Nate hasn’t made a single good decision in HTGAWM season 6, so I’m not sure why he would start now.

While Annalise still has Gabriel as a witness to fall back on, that will be far from a slam dunk. Other than that, they’re going to have to get creative to win this case.

I’m very intrigued to find out what happened with Hannah and Sam (seriously, what happened?!), and to see how that plays into the defense. How happy would HTGAWM fans be if Hannah Keating went down for all of this? It would be a perfect cherry on top of the series.

I also really liked Oliver’s idea for Connor and Michaela to represent themselves, since their lawyers apparently suck. At the very least, they don’t understand the intricacies of Connor and Michaela’s case and their relationship with Annalise.

Even though it would be stupid from an actual law perspective, it would be a really cool conclusion to HTGAWM to see Connor and Michaela step up and use everything they’ve learned over the course of the series.

With only three episodes to go, the show has a lot of ground to cover, and a lot of “getting away with murder” to do.

I’m interested to see how Agent Pollock and Governor Birkhead react to Xavier’s death, and how the hell we’re going to get to Wes being alive and Annalise being dead. Three episodes left! We can’t wait to see what’s next.
