How to Get Away With Murder is back with season 3 on September 22. It’s been a long time since HTGAWM season 2 wrapped back in March. With only 15 episodes a season, you might not remember what went down.

Here is our How to Get Away With Murder season 2 recap!

If you want the short version, basically everyone on the show puts the “cra” in cray-cray. Seriously, don’t trust anyone. They all have secret agendas, deeply morally flawed pasts, and they’d all sell their own mother to the devil if it meant saving their own skins. This is why we watch — because we want to know what new, jaw-dropping thing Annalise and friends are going to do this week.

Here’s where we last left Annalise, her minions, and the Keating 5.

‘HTGAWM’ season 2 recap

Wallace Mahoney

Veteran actor Adam Arkin plays Wallace Mahoney, who is Wes’ real father. Wes’ mother killed herself in front of Annalise rather than testify against Wallace in a murder trial. She believed she was better off dead, leaving her son to be raised in the system rather than with Wallace.

Wes tracked Mahoney down, and confronted him, and the next moment Mahoney was dead. Was Wes a willing or unwitting part of Mahoney’s murder? How much anger does Wes hold against Annalise for being part of the events that tore his life apart? What revenge will Wes enact, and on whom? Will Wes be the prime suspect in Mahoney’s murder?

We are hoping for more flashback scenes that reveal how the past and present intertwine. You know that Annalise is going to have her clutches all over this one.

Ships ahoy

Connor and Oliver are still going strong despite the fact that the innocent Oliver is eager to enter the dark world of investigative work, which has rubbed off on him from Annalise. On a show where multiple relationships are deeply dysfunctional, Coliver is easily the healthiest of the lot.

Annalise and Nate have sort of patched things up in as much as they are working together, and Eve seems fine with having Annalise’s back as well. Will the three of them work willingly side by side? It looks like they are going to have to for Wes’ sake.

For a long time it was Asher and Bonnie and Michaela and Caleb. Then, after Bonnie dropped Asher, and Michaela realized she’d been played for a fool by a guy, again, Michaela and Asher found each other. Where Michaela and Asher are going, we really aren’t sure. It could either go down the friends with benefits road or turn into something deeper.

Will it be Frank and Laurel or Wes and Laurel — that is the question! Frank messed up big time with Laurel by not telling her the whole truth. She doesn’t so much mind a conniving murderer; she just minds one that doesn’t tell her everything. Wes and Laurel, on the other hand, have this attraction that’s been built on Laurel rescuing Wes in a gender reversal damsel in distress kind of way. Now the only question is, what will the love-struck Frank do about all of this?

Unfinished business

HTGAWM season 2 left us with a lot of loose ends. Are any of these going to play out this season, or will they just be dropped plot points?

The largest question is: What is the deal with Laurel’s father? Is he a gangster, drug runner, Latino Mafia Don, or what? How do his nefarious dealings affect Laurel’s world?

What hand will Bonnie play? She’s no longer the sniveling assistant in the shadows. Will she strike out on her own? Who will she recruit? She doesn’t need Annalise any more, so will she be the mastermind behind something new?

How to Get Away With Murder is back on ABC Thursday at at 10:00 p.m. ET.
