Life hasn’t been easy for Connor. After he survived the craziness that was HTGAWM season 2, his boyfriend broke up with him, and now he’s handed an impossible case.

When it comes to How to Get Away with Murder you can never accuse them of being short on drama. This week included some pretty interesting scenes for Coliver, Asher and Michaela (Ashchaela?), Annalise and the president of Middleton University, Laurel and Bonnie, and of course, Connor in his lawyer suit.

So much goes on in a single episode it’s hard to keep track of it all, especially when we have two or three different time periods happening concurrently. Here are our highlights of the episode, and make sure to read all the way to the bottom as we breathe a sigh of relief at the reveal of the first survivor.

The saga of Coliver

After last week, we were all happy to see Connor confident that he would win Oliver back in no time. That started this episode out on a high note, and had me crossing my fingers that he would say all the right things.

He didn’t. They’re still separated. Connor moved out. *Cue sobs* There is surely more to come for this pair, but seeing Oliver push Connor away so he can do a little soul searching just gets harder every time he says it. You have to respect the guy for being true to himself, but it doesn’t make it hurt us any less.

Before all the heartache, we got this fabulous little kissing sesh. Bookmark this gifset folks, as it may be the last Coliver kisses we see for a while.

Annalise takes a hit

Just when you think Middleton University’s hierarchy is going to stand by Annalise and help her find and discredit the rumor rat posting all those “Killer” fliers around campus, you see they’re nothing but a bunch of cowering worms.

Instead of standing by their faculty, they chose to suspend her “temporarily” until they can get things under control. Considering that she’s the victim in this case, it just seems wrong for the school to refuse to help. It’s a good thing Annalise doesn’t know how to just lay down and die.

Connor’s day in court

Everyone was calling this case a lost cause, including Connor, but Annalise pushed all the right buttons and helped Connor with one hell of a legal win.

The most interesting part of this storyline is that Connor got incredibly passionate in his defense of his client. Seeing him speak that vehemently about domestic violence made this viewer wonder whether or not he has some abuse hiding in his past. For Connor’s sake we hope not, but what else could have caused him to react that strongly?

Bonnie and Laurel bonding

Bonnie discovers that Laurel has been calling Frank regularly since he left, and basically can’t tell Annalise fast enough. Ms. Keating definitely isn’t surprised, but she is a little flabbergasted that Laurel would do this after everything Annalise did to protect the Keating Five last season.

Bonnie is quick to volunteer to talk to Laurel, only so she can berate her for trying to keep in contact with her boyfriend. The two don’t exactly bond, but we do know that Annalise is going to use Laurel’s father to try and track down Frank. Dun, dun, DUN!

And our first survivor is…

OLIVER!

Phew. We can all breathe a little easier. Technically he’s the second survivor, due to us knowing Annalise wasn’t the one under the sheet, but the last thing HTGAWM would do is lose Viola Davis.

Anyway, since Conrad Ricamora was the most recent cast member to be promoted to series regular, it would have been all too easy for them to choose him as this season’s victim. Not to mention that it would have been an absolutely gut-wrenching choice, what with Coliver being this show’s most functional couple, and one hell of an OTP.

Oliver will survive season 3, and now we know that he will more than likely continue to show up in the flash forwards from here on out. I would put money on Connor’s reveal not coming until the very end of season 3. They will want to keep us all at the height of anticipation, and every week that gets closer to Connor possibly being the man under the sheet, the more we lose our minds.

Do you think Coliver will find their way back to each other on ‘HTGAWM’?
