A very intense, live situation on a local Los Angeles news station today caused a prank caller to get live on the air and fool a news anchor.

The Chris Dorner prank call aired live on CBS 2 and KCAL 9, which are local Los Angeles news stations. The news woman took a call from someone believed to be an authority member. The caller said that Chris Dorner was spotted by Ronnie the Limo Driver who shot at Dorner. “He was on his way to a block party, and got caught in a fire out.”

The news anchor did not catch on to the prank, which led the caller to call the newswoman an explicative.

Ronnie the Limo Driver is radio host Howard Stern’s personal security guard and limo driver. The “block party” is a reference to live shows that Ronnie Mund hosts around the United States for fans of The Howard Stern Show. Stern’s show is known for prank calls on live television, and this is one of those classic examples.

We’re surprised the news anchor nor her producers realized this was a prank, but that’s live television for you.

Chris Dorner is a former Los Angeles police officer who was fired from the organization in 2008 after filing a report about a colleague that was deemed false.
