How We Hype is a twice-monthly feature on Hypable where we tell you what we’re doing in fandom over the weekend!

Being a part of a fierce group ‘Avengers’ cosplay at Indy PopCon – Danielle Zimmerman

Have you heard the news? Hypable’s hitting Indy PopCon and we’re hitting it hard. While I’m SO excited to reunite with Karen and Donya for the first time since last summer, I’m possibly even more excited for Saturday where we’ll be taking our friendship to the next level by cosplaying different Avengers members together (or, well, that’s the plan). I’ve put together a brand new Scarlet Witch cosplay and I’m SO jazzed about it that I just want to wear it every day until then (and then every day for another week after PopCon ends). So, if you’re in our around Indianapolis or Indy PopCon (which you totally should be), come and find us. You won’t miss us. We’ll be the ones looking totally FIERCE. (And I’ll be the one shooting imaginary mind spells at people. I’ve been practicing my hand movements a lot.)

Attending Indy PopCon – Karen Rought

The worst thing about Hypable is how far away some of your best friends live from you. But one of the best things is how you pretty much always have a couch to crash on somewhere around the world. I’ll be doing just that when I meet up with Danielle to go to Indy PopCon this weekend, joined by Donya and a few of our other friends. You can expect some great Disneybounding from our group, and we’ll be exploring the show floor, participating in panels, and interviewing some of the other attendees. We even have our own table! With buttons!

Seeing ‘Jurassic World’ a second time – Mitchel Clow

I’ve been thinking non-stop about seeing Jurassic World for a second time on the silver screen ever since I saw it on its premiere date. I’m simply obsessed with the chemistry Bryce and Chris have, and of course the epic dinosaur attack scenes. I should also state that this was the first Jurassic film I watching in its entirety; when I went home and watched Jurassic Park, I was sorely disappointed. Now that says something.

Re-watching ‘Inside Out’ – Tariq Kyle

Over the weekend I saw Inside Out for the first time, and I loved it. What I didn’t love, however, was the fact that I’d gotten to the theater so late I was sitting in the first row craning to look up, having to turn my head from left to right if the action on the screen wasn’t happening in the center. So this time I’ll be watching it again, hopefully with a better view so I can actually take in the whole picture. I’m so excited to see this film twice because it is, in my opinion, Pixar’s smartest film yet. Until then I’ll probably find myself humming “triple that gum,” along side the classic tune, “who’s your friend that likes to play? BING BONG BING BONG!”

Seeing The Fray and Train in concert – Brittany Lovely

Kicking off my summer outdoor concerts for 2015, I’ll be spending this weekend seeing Matt Nathanson, The Fray, and Train at their Picasso at the Wheel Tour stop in NJ. I’ve seen each band perform separately prior to this, so the three for one deal was a purchase that required minimal thinking. Hopefully, Train’s newer album will dissuade them from revisiting their, in my opinion, overplayed California 37 album and they’ ll strike a good balance between their new music and older hits. In all honesty, I’m only there for “Drops of Jupiter.” The Fray cannot make a wrong choice in their setlist selection since I am firm believer that everything they create turns to gold.

As an added bonus to the music, I purchased tickets for my parents as a birthday/Father’s Day combo. I’m looking forward to sitting through three hours of, “Oh, I know this song!” followed by some light swaying and completely wrong lyric singing.

Hosting a Live Podcast and co-hosting a ‘Women in Fandom’ panel at Indy PopCon – Donya Abramo

Phew. You guys had enough yet? In addition to all of the excitement I’ll be getting up to with Danielle and Karen — no prizes for the first person to guess which Avenger I’ll be — I’ll also be hosting a live episode of Hero Hype (with a special guest.) Expect the usual kinds of shenanigans, just minus Marama, my partner in crime. As if that wasn’t enough Donya to be getting on with, I’ll also be on the “Women in Fandom” panel, alongside Brooke Allen, Elspeth Eastman and Heather Decker. The panel will be moderated by Carmen DeMint, so there’s some serious, all-round girl power going on. If you’re in the Indianapolis area, make sure you drop by. Their first annual convention last year was a blast from the word go, and their second is shaping up to be bigger and even better!
