Speaking to Hypable while promoting his new film Kick-Ass 2, actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse briefly touched on his role in How to Train Your Dragon 2.

The Dreamsworks animated sequel is a highly-anticipated project thanks to the success of the 2010 original. A teaser trailer depicting Hiccup and Toothless trying new tricks debuted last month and also offered a first look at a more mature Hiccup who’s now a young adult.

Mintz-Plasse, who voices Fishlegs, told us that the sequel is shaping up to be even better than the original. “It’s crazy man, we have Cate Blanchett [voicing Valka] in this one now, who’s killer. And something really dark happens in it, it’s gonna hit that emotional point. It’s gonna be good. It’s gonna be really good.”

The actor added that he is “definitely” on board for a third one should they choose to green light Dragon 3 (which is very likely).

For Mintz-Plasse, having roles in animated films is a nice change from his more adult parts. “I love it man, it’s exciting because most of my movies are rated R and I go in there and I’m trying to make kids laugh, so it’s cool to do a PG movie. And you can go in wearing sweatpants and do it.”

How to Train Your Dragon 2 opens in theaters June 20, 2014. In the story, Hiccup and Toothless leave their homestead to map new territories in the region and are closer friends than ever. While on their mission they come across new humans, creatures, and the “mysterious” Dragon Rider.
