How I Met Your Mother returns Monday with “Who Wants to be a Godparent?” in which Ted, Barney and Robin will be competing! Watch a scene from the episode now.
In “Who Wants to be a Godparent?” Marshall and Lily will be using their own made up game (seemingly inspired by Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and Wheel of Fortune) to help them decide whether Robin, Ted or Barney gets the honour of being Marvin Waitforit’s godparent.
The sneak peek released by CBS reveals the introduction of the game itself, as well as the first question – which goes to Barney! “How would you explain to little Marvin why we’re not around anymore?” Marshall asks. Barney’s response? “Easy. All I’d have to do is change a few words from one of my classics with the ladies.” A faux flash forward then reveals Barney speaking to a young Marvin, saying, “The president of the world has called your parents away on a super secret space mission. For the sake of the planet, you will never see them again. Now pick up your toys and say goodnight to daddy – what do you know, the last line stays the same.”
If Lily and Marshall are only allotting one godparent spot to their friends, who do you think got the other one? And a better question: why is Ted not Marvin’s godparent by default, considering his history with both of his parents?!
How I Met Your Mother 8×04 “Who Wants to be a Godparent?” airs Monday at 8/7c on CBS. We can’t wait to see how the rest of the game plays out, and which of the three contestants get the coveted spot!
Hopefully we’ll also get to see more shots of the gang with future Marvin, even if they are imaginary.
