Next week’s episode of How I Met Your Mother, “Weekend at Barney’s” pays tribute to the 1989 comedy, Weekend at Bernie’s. New photos and predictions!

Following the last episode of How I Met Your Mother, things have been a little quiet on the Jeanette front. However, we all know that goes up in smoke as per the opening scene in “Bad Crazy,” episode 16 of the current season.

Next week’s episode takes us back to the ’80s for some retro fun, as How I Met Your Mother pays homage to the 1989 classic comedy, Weekend at Bernie’s. Whilst we aren’t quite sure why Ted, Marshall and Barney might go so far to recreate the movie, we can assume it has something to do with the playbook… But we thought Barney set it on fire when he set about winning Robin over to become his fiancée?

In the synopsis for the episode:

Barney uses the infamous, and thought to have been destroyed, playbook to help Ted find a new girl. Meanwhile Marshall gets some unintentional attention at Lily’s gallery opening.

Sound’s like Barney might have some explaining to do!

In the photos released by CBS, it looks like “Weekend at Barney’s” could have some hilarious yet disastrous results. See below:

In the photos above, it looks like things are going to “hot up” with Jeanette, but is that an engagement ring we spy in photo nine? And maybe we have an idea how things come down in flames after all… We knew Barney and Marshall keeping all the things in Ted’s flat that they’re not allowed/want to hide from Robin and Lily wasn’t a good idea!

Also, what’s this news about Marshall getting some “unintentional attention”? Lucky Lily gets to open an art gallery, but what could Marshall have done to steal her thunder?

And if the name of the game for the 18th episode of season 8 is for Ted to get back on the horse in the dating game, is the pretty young blonde the object of his desire?

Looks like “Weekend at Barney’s” could be legen… wait for it… dary!!

Tune in on Monday 8/7c on CBS for the next instalment of How I Met Your Mother.
