In a new interview, the How I Met Your Mother exec Carter Bays talks about Monday’s big time-jumping episode and the Ted/Robin/Barney love triangle.

Speaking to TV Line, Bays discusses Monday’s episode, in which Ted, Barney and Marshall get together to watch Star Wars:

The premise of it is how, throughout life, you’re always imagining what things are going to be like down the road, and you never quite guess correctly. It’s a little more [of a] conceptual episode. It tells its story in a slightly different time frame.

So as we saw in the sneak peek, this episode will bring us glimpses into futures that never happened – that’s definitely new for the show (…or is it?).

Bays also addresses Robin’s feelings for Barney and Ted – and nope, neither book is closed! While Robin “wants the best for [Barney],” the lingering questions of her feelings for him has not been forgotten. As for Ted, that’s “always on the table.” Bays explains:

It’s a love triangle. As long as they’re all in each other’s worlds, there’s always going to be that tension between these three characters. It’ll take something big happening for that to go away.

Do you think Robin should end up with either Ted or Barney? Or neither?
