CBS’s How I Met Your Mother 17th episode of season eight entitled “The Ashtray” promises to be one of the most cringe worthy episodes to date as Ted is contacted by The Captain.

As reported yesterday, this episode is going to revolve around a group flashback, back to when Lily, Marshall, Robin, Barney and Ted last met up with the Captain, the ex-husband of one of Ted’s ex-girlfriend’s, Zoey.

What’s more, as shown by brand new images released by CBS, How I Met Your Mother is holding no bars with sheer awkward. Why is Robin licking her lips? Why is the Captain being quite so liberal with that Chapstick? And why does Barney have a ginger beard? All important questions, and ones we hope will be answered!

From the promo, it looks like Lily and Marshall could be heading towards turbulent waters. What could they be arguing about? What could the meddlesome Lily have done to make Marshall get cross?

Also, what’s with Barney and two nearly naked blondes? That being said, does Barney ever need an excuse to flaunt a couple of hotties? The guitar and confetti still has us wondering though…

Has the already pretty eccentric Captain finally flipped? Or is he just being friendly, whilst pointing a gun at Ted? The Captain has come across a bit strongly in the past, but he wouldn’t get physical, would he?
