House of Cards may be on its way out on Netflix, but it looks like the online streaming giant is already working on a spinoff.

According to Variety, Netflix is currently hard at work on a House of Cards spinoff.

Fans of the series will have to hold tight, however. Plans for the proposed spinoff are currently in the very early stages of planning, meaning that the online streaming giant is still working out what they’d like to see the proposed spinoff focus on.

One idea Netflix is reportedly toying with is a House of Cards spinoff centered around Doug Stamper. Fans of the series will undoubtedly be familiar with Doug, who plays a political aide-de-camp on the show.

Though there are currently no set plans to move forward with the Doug Stamper spinoff, Variety also reports that Netflix has tapped Eric Roth to write the script for the new series. For his part, Roth served as executive producer on the original series for the first four seasons so we already know he’s got what it takes to bring a story like this to life.

Rumors that Netflix was going to cut off House of Cards after six seasons started swirling late Sunday (Oct. 29) night after actor Anthony Rapp revealed in an interview with Buzzfeed that series star Kevin Spacey had sexually assaulted him when he was just 14.

On Monday, fans received official confirmation straight from Netflix that the political drama would officially be ending after the series’ upcoming sixth season.

We’ll be curious to see what Netflix brings us if the House of Cards spinoff ever gets the official green light.
