There are a lot of things that Dumbledore does as an old wizard that’ll seem very, very different now that he’ll be young and attractive.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald finally has a trailer and we’re getting hyped to see the much-anticipated sequel. Not only do we get to see Newt, Tina, Queenie and Jacob return, but we’ll be introduced to a beloved old character in a young new form: Professor Albus Dumbledore.

But of course, when Dumbledore is being played by Jude Law and dressed in elegant clothing, it becomes harder to not admit that Dumbledore looks… well… attractive. In a somewhat disturbing turn of events, we might end up finding Dumbledore… sexy?
In the face of this life-changing possibility, it’s time to take a look at the Dumbledore we knew and loved from the books and movies, whose quirks and dignity take on a whole new tone now that he’s hot!Dumbledore.
Do we want to see him do these things? Do we want Fantastic Beasts 2 to become fanfiction fodder for Albus/OC shippers? Too late! We already got the trailer and we can never go back!
Gaze at us over his half-moon spectacles
While the Headmaster of Hogwarts often looked over his half-moon spectacles at people, his eyes twinkling with wisdom, things are going to be very different now that we’ll be staring into Jude Law’s blue (green? Oh not again, WB…) eyes, twinkling suggestively at the audience.
Stand dramatically
Dumbledore often stands dramatically against beautiful scenery, his beard and robes flowing in the wind, clearly having an ethereal moment of wisdom in which he comprehends things that we never could. But now these moments will hold new appeal, as young Dumbledore, clad in rather tight trousers and a waistcoat, shows off his rocking bod to the entirety of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade’s population.
Suck on lemon drops
“Lemon drop?” is one of the most iconic Dumbledore moments of the books, which shows off Dumbledore’s shameless quirkiness and generosity when it comes to offering people candy. He’s like a kindly grandfather. But things will be different when we see young Professor Dumbledore leisurely suck on a lemon drop, perhaps while holding someone’s gaze in a not entirely appropriate way, automatically raising Fantastic Beasts’ rating to R.
Fight Dark Wizards with advanced magic
Some of the coolest scenes in the original Harry Potter movies were the ones when we got to see Dumbledore fight. While we usually only got to see Hogwarts students learning to use magic, Dumbledore would be a powerful force unleashed upon the enemy. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them gave us even more magic from adults, so we’re bound to see Dumbledore in action again. And you know that the filmmakers will make the most of it, letting young Albus show off some muscle as he carries out an exquisitely crafted choreography for our benefit.
Show up unexpectedly behind people
Dumbledore has a tendency to make surprise appearances, apparating in such a way that we don’t even see him do it. It makes for moments of surprise, relief, and sometimes embarrassment, as Dumbledore catches Harry, McGonagall, and many other characters going about their daily life unawares. Now, however, his surprise appearances will probably seem more romantic — Dumbledore leaning casually against a car, legs crossed and hands in his pockets; Dumbledore waiting outside someone’s window with a boombox; Dumbledore stopping an oncoming car with his bare hands and saving the day…
Passive-aggressively threaten people
No one is better at issuing veiled threats that seem absolutely dignified than Dumbledore. From “You must act as you see fit. And I — I shall act as I see fit,” to “REMEMBER MY LAST, PETUNIA,” he frustrates and frightens his enemies while simultaneously gaining their respect. After all, “he’s got style.” Young Professor Dumbledore is bound to be just as effective at making his point, perhaps in a darker manner that is less kindly Dumbledore and more badboy!Dumbledore, awing and embarrassing and maybe kind of even exciting the enemy.
Pin people against the wall while shouting DIDYAPUTYOURNAMEINTHEGOBLETOFFIYAH
Book Dumbledore never really showed off his physicality in the same way Movie Dumbledore did in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, pinning Harry to the wall while yelling at him in a way that literally everybody hated, but which now offers fascinating possibilities for a young, attractive Dumbledore who hasn’t quite learned how to control his temper yet. Badboy!Dumbledore will routinely pin people against walls while staring deeply into their eyes in a way that is both threatening and seductive — which is obviously how the final battle between him and Gridelwald will take place.
