HBO’s upcoming adaptation of Watchmen has added another cast member to its ranks!

According to Deadline, Vietnamese actress Hong Chau has joined the cast of HBO’s new Watchmen series.

Chau, who was last seen in 2018’s Downsizing, is said to be playing Lady T. in HBO’s upcoming series. The character, like Chau, is of Vietnamese descent and is said to play a key role in the adaptation. Other than that, HBO hasn’t let slip any more details about the role.

Spearheaded by The Leftovers showrunner Damon Lindelof, the forthcoming HBO series is an upcoming adaptation based off of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ beloved comic series of the same name.

The adaptation has been in the works at HBO for quite some time. Chau is the latest to join an impressive ensemble cast who has been recruited to bring Moore and Gibbons’ beloved series to life on the small screen.

Other actors signed on to star in the upcoming HBO series include Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fischer, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith, and Adelynn Spoon.

Though everyone involved with the project are keeping tight-lipped on specifics with regards to the plot, one thing we can infer is that Lindelof’s adaptation will likely veer slightly from the source material.

According to HBO’s official synopsis of the new series, Watchmen “Embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.”

Given the synopsis alone, it sounds as though fans of the comic series can expect some new curve balls to be thrown their way when the HBO series eventually premieres.

HBO’s Watchmen is set to premiere via HBO in 2019.
