Some of us have been waiting for this. Some have been dreading it. Take a look at the Honest Trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

Funny story: when I went to the cinema to see The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, there was a group of teen girls behind me, who loudly proclaimed that the Hobbit movies were better than the Lord of the Rings. I turned and glared at them, they threw popcorn at me.

Although Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy certainly has its own devoted fan base (as evidenced above), most people agree that it falls woefully short when compared to its parent trilogy. This has a lot to do with the fact that it’s a trilogy based on one short book, of course.

Whether or not BOFTA lived up to your expectations, most people do tend to agree that it’s the best of the three. And Peter Jackson certainly put in a solid effort to send the series off in style.

However, that doesn’t mean it was necessarily a very good movie. Check out Screen Junkies‘ (very) honest trailer:

Fairly or not, Screen Junkies compares the Hobbit trilogy to the Star Wars prequels, and laments the lack of character development for the dwarves.

Everything the fans have lamented seems to be addressed: the many action scenes, the quick disposal of Smaug, and the unnecessary LotR references.

In an attempt to fix the ending of the film, Screen Junkies enlists the How it Should Have Ended team, and the result is hilarious.

Now we can go back to just loving The Lord of the Rings, and allow the Hobbit fans to enjoy their trilogy in peace.
