The Honest Trailer for Iron Man drops some uncomfortable truths, and that’s why we love the Screen Junkies.

You gotta say one thing for the Honest Trailer guys: they have damn good timing. The Iron Man breakdown was released on the same day as Forbes revealed the staggering salary of its lead actor, Robert Downey Jr.

Everyone was shocked by just how much money Downey Jr. makes compared to his fellow Avengers, but you can’t deny that the actor did, to a certain extent, launch a new era of superhero movies with Iron Man in 2008.

The movie, directed by Jon Favreau, certainly changed the game for Marvel. Without it, the movie industry would probably look a lot different right now.

But that doesn’t change the fact that, as this Honest Trailer reminds us, Iron Man is proof that Marvel, “can build a franchise around just about anybody.”

Check out the hilarious video below:

Iron Man invented what the Screen Junkies call, “a formula for printing money,” which has launched Marvel to the top of the Hollywood food chain.

There are some great side-by-side comparisons between Iron Man, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man that remind us that, yeah, these movies are kinda generic by design (but we still love them).

And here’s the blunt truth: without Iron Man, there would be no Marvel Cinematic Universe. No Avengers, no Guardians, no Winter Soldier… and who knows, it might just have forced Hollywood to come up with more original ideas.

But would we really want to live in a world without the MCU?
