A major trailer for Homeland season 5 has been released by Showtime and promises us a lot of intensity.

The beginning of the trailer shows Carrie enjoying a birthday party for her daughter with her new boyfriend played by Alexander Fehling, but the pleasant vibes don’t last for long.

The three main players — Carrie, Saul, and Quinn — are back in action as Homeland season 5 jumps two years into the future and places its storyline in Berlin. Carrie is now a private citizen and working as the head of security for a German philanthropist, who appears to steal data on the U.S.’s surveillance program with the Germans. Meanwhile, Saul is on to her and teams up with Quinn to take out a couple of enemies.

As you can see from this trailer, it looks like it doesn’t take long for Saul to connect the breach to Carrie. These two… will they ever get back to their teamwork?

Homeland season 5, filmed entirely in Berlin, Germany, premieres October 4 on Showtime. We’re looking forward to seeing Carrie in a position outside of the CIA, though by the looks of this trailer this series is still very much a show about the Central Intelligence Agency.

“Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the war on terror, Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working as the head of security for a German philanthropist,” reads a synopsis for season 5.
