Filming is now underway on Homeland season 5 in Germany, and Showtime has made a slew of announcements to commemorate the start of production.

As you may recall, Homeland season 4 left us on a pretty great cliffhanger: Carrie and Quinn almost got together after moving back to the United States until the former screwed it up, leaving Quinn to flee the States and rejoin the CIA on a dark mission in Syria.

Season 5 will introduce several new characters, including a boyfriend for Carrie. Between the time jump and the boyfriend, it seems clear that Carrie will be completely over the idea of being with Quinn at the start of season 5.

The new cast members listed below are all series regulars, meaning you’ll see them throughout the season. Their roles are as follows (descriptions via Showtime):

– Otto Düring (played by Sebastian Koch), a German philanthropist and Carrie’s (Claire Danes) boss.

– Allison Carr (Miranda Otto), the current Berlin Chief of Station, working directly under Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin).

– Laura Sutton (Sarah Sokolovic), an American journalist in Berlin who works for the Düring Foundation.

– Jonas Happich (Alexander Fehling), legal counsel for the Düring Foundation and Carrie’s boyfriend.

Some fans worried that Quinn may not be a part of the new season because of his mission in Syria, but Showtime confirms that he and Saul will both be back for season 5. We’re looking forward to seeing Saul and Carrie working closely with one another again after that happened in season 4.

Showtime says the new season of Homeland is filming the entire season in Germany — the first time that an American television series has filmed an entire season in the foreign country.

Homeland season 5 premieres this fall (with a 12-episode order) on Showtime.
