Homeland season 4 will not bring back two characters who have been on the show since the beginning.

Spoiler warning!

Morena Baccarin who plays Jessica Brody and Morgan Saylor who plays Dana Brody Lazaro will not be returning for season 4 of Homeland, TV Line reports.

The news isn’t all too surprising considering what happened on the season 3 finale yesterday: Brody was killed via a public hanging after he was captured by Javadi’s men. The decision to kill him was a necessary one, according to Javadi, because he had to show that he was in power and could capture the person who killed General Akbari.

Jessica and Dana’s plot lines came to an appropriate end in season 3 when the latter changed her last name to separate from her father and begin a new life as a motel maid. Her father met with her before going out on his final mission and promised he would fix things. Dana, however, was not interested in repairing their relationship.

We presume that Brody’s son Chris, and Jessica’s love interest, Mike, will no longer be in the picture either.

Viewers have come to not like Dana at all over the past couple seasons, so many will be pleased to hear her character is making a permanent departure.

Last night’s Homeland season 3 finale clearly showed that a reboot of the show was on the way. The only major people who appear to be relevant to the drama at this stage are Carrie, CIA Director Lockhart, Quinn, and Dar Adal. We presume Saul will return as well in some fashion, because the show would be very different without him.

Thanks, TV Line.
