Brace yourselves, Homeland fans. The season 4 premiere airs this Sunday, and the 2-hour event is worth looking forward to.

Hypable had the chance to check out the 2-hour premiere of Homeland season 4 (technically episodes 1 and 2 airing back-to-back) ahead of this Sunday’s launch. What we can tell you is that the show is back and just as exciting as those early episodes of Homeland you love and miss so much.

What this Sunday’s Homeland season 4 premiere proves is that Brody’s presence isn’t necessary for this show to soar. In the first two hours of the new season you’ll see Carrie and the CIA dealing with a new mishap that is bringing great embarrassment to the organization. When you add in layers like Carrie’s baby, Quinn’s issues with his career, and Saul’s search for purpose, you have one juicy start for the beloved Showtime drama. We had several “wow” moments while watching the first two episodes which reminded us of the shock value we’ve enjoyed so much with this series on a whole.

While you wait for October 5, Showtime has released several stills which offer plenty of good looks at episode 1 and episode 2. The photo at the top of this article depicts Carrie blowing out a birthday cake shortly after giving the go ahead on a mission. As you could imagine, the happiness ends quickly after those candles are blown out.

In additional stills, below, you’ll see Saul speaking with Dar Adal, Quinn and Carrie having a chat, Quinn hitting the bottle beside a pool, and a new character named Sandy played by Corey Stoll (House of Cards).
