Showtime has released the first poster and trailer for Homeland season 4 which places Carrie in Pakistan.

In addition, the network revealed that Homeland season 4 will premiere October 5, 2014 – a little later than the show’s usual September start.

The brand new Homeland season 4 trailer shows Carrie is in Pakistan fighting crimes that pose a threat to the United States. Saul and Quinn make welcome appearances while drama flies between Carrie and the latter.

The Homeland trailer includes a brief shot of Carrie and Brody’s baby, who has been forced to stay in the United States because of mom’s dangerous line of work overseas. It was a smart move to keep the baby far away given the amount of trouble that appears to be going on in the Middle East. After all, it’s safe to assume that Carrie will want to put herself in the middle of the danger.

Speaking to the media this afternoon in Beverly Hills, Homeland executive producer Meredith Stiehm teased the upcoming episodes.

“Emotionally, [Carrie] has stabilized, and the mental illness that we’ve dealt with, she has now dealt with,” she said. “She’s going into this season very steady.

“She’s in a completely different role now that she’s overseas. The baby exists as a marker for her, emotionally … but she was forced to leave the child at home.”

Critics also learned today that the Brody family will very likely not be making an appearance during Homeland season 4 now that dad has been killed. That will come as welcome news to viewers who really, really disliked Brody’s daughter Dana.

Finally today, check out this new poster depicting Carrie standing out amongst a crowd of Pakistanis:

What do you think of the ‘Homeland’ season 4 trailer?

And can the series continue without Brody in the picture? While many agreed that the character had to die sooner rather than later, now the question is if the show is capable of successfully rebooting itself.
