Everyone agrees: Last Sunday’s episode of Homeland season 4 was one of the best hours in the show’s history. Now that so much has changed, Carrie and co. will have to pivot into a new mission.

The big goal now, in our minds, is to rescue Saul. At the end of last week’s Homeland we watched as Haqqani held him hostage in front of Aayan (and Carrie via drone). The terrorist leader then showed no remorse when killing his own nephew point blank, moments after Aayan realized that Carrie didn’t love him like he thought she did.

Photos from this Sunday’s new Homeland season 4 episode depict Senator Lockhart stepping in to help fix the situation. Presumably he’ll be having some tense words with Carrie considering she let this happen to him.

Elsewhere in the stills we see Carrie looking frazzled with her weapon pointed at someone – hopefully this is a big scene! – Quinn working in some sort of control center, and Fara and Max possibly out on a monitoring assignment:

A synopsis for the episode keeps things simple: “Lockhart arrives; Carrie’s investigation gets complicated.” The latter sentence was pretty apparent after what happened at the end of episode 6!

The trailer for Homeland season 4, episode 7 is intense. We see Lockhart assembling a team that he thinks is capable of saving Saul (it looks like Carrie isn’t a part of it), Saul riding in a car through town with Haqqani, and Carrie… getting kidnapped?

What will Haqanni be doing with Saul for the remainder of the season until Saul is saved (or… killed)? We know that Haqanni will be holding the former CIA director hostage while they wait for Team America to make a move, but we’re fearing that our Saul may be on death’s door.

We’re just glad he’s become a relevant character again.
