Our Homeland season 3, episode 8 recap breaks down the events that played out between Carrie, Saul, Javadi, and Quinn.

Where to even begin with tonight’s episode? Tonight’s Homeland season 3, episode 8 brought out the classic storytelling in the show that reminds us of the excitement in season 1.

Saul kicked off phase 2 of his overall plan, the highlight of it being his trip to Venezuela to meet with Brody who’s not looking or smelling good these days. The secret mission – that Carrie isn’t a part of – is for a scheme that will somehow connect to Javadi. That link is still unclear, but if Saul feels like he can’t tell Carrie, then it must be for a reason that she will not approve of.

Another highlight of the episode was Carrie interrupting Quinn and Dar Adal’s operation to take down the Langley bomber. In an attempt to stop Franklin from burning the terrorist, Carrie starts heading into the building but is then shot by Quinn. This compelling moment of television truly surprised us because a good chunk of the scene was previewed in a trailer for the episode earlier this week. When we watched it in a preview format, we thought there was no way Quinn would actually fire.

Meanwhile, Fara is stressed about the CIA, and Saul is too busy to even notice she’s missing. Her disappointment stemmed from letting Javadi go back to Iran.

Finally, we learned more about Carrie’s baby. She’s 13 weeks into the pregnancy and doesn’t want to know if it’s a boy or girl yet. She’s concerned that the baby may be suffering from her stress and heavy drinking after she got pregnant. She also thinks it’s Brody’s.

What do you think Saul has in store for Brody?

Check out a preview for next week’s episode of Homeland season 3 titled “Horse and Wagon” (our guess is Saul is the horse, Brody is the wagon):

Notably, Carrie appears at the very end of the preview. This suggests that it won’t be long until she learns about Saul’s plans for him.

Catch it Sunday, November 24 at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on Showtime.
