Tonight’s Homeland season 3 episode saw Saul move in on Javadi while interesting new background concerning Carrie came to light.

Our Homeland recap for season 3, episode 6 breaks down the events of tonight’s episode.

Carrie meets with Javadi. Carrie is hooked up to a lie detector, and after getting his other people out of the room because they’re making her “nervous,” she pulls out a major card: Carrie says Javadi is an enemy of his own state for embezzling. This little piece of info turns the tables and suddenly puts Carrie on a level playing field with the 12/12 bomber. Off camera she tells him that Saul is in on this too, and he seems to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Carrie adds that the compound they’re currently in is surrounded by U.S. authorities, but later we learn that that wasn’t the case because Saul and his team had lost them earlier. Javadi agrees to meet with Saul, essentially meaning he’s captured.

Saul and Quinn are working from a distance. Quinn recaps Carrie’s kidnapping and tries to develop a game plan. Saul notes that they don’t want to do anything to compromise Carrie and seems a bit worried about her whereabouts with Javadi since they weren’t able to track their moves. After the meeting, Saul has an awkward talk with his wife Mira who tries to explain herself for bringing a man into the house (But who’s surprised when Saul has been so distant?). Mira insists that Saul and her had separated when she met the new man, and he seems to accept that it’s over.

A plan of attack. Back at her home, Carrie calls Saul and updates him on the Javadi meeting. Carrie is disturbed by the fact that Saul hadn’t been watching them at the meeting house. After their catch up, Saul tells Carrie to get some rest. In her bathroom she goes to the take a pregnancy test which tells her she’s pregnant. She puts it in a drawer full of other tests that also tested positive. What gives?

Carrie heads out for her meeting, but Saul has a drone on Javadi and we see he’s heading another direction. It turns out he’s visiting his ex-wife’s home. At the door he kills the nanny then sees his grandson. He then sees his ex-wife who he kills. Carrie and Quinn enter and put the terrorist at gunpoint, and Javadi says he’s ready to meet Saul. The CIA director learns of what Javadi did and it upsets him because Javadi’s wife was supposed to be in California Witness Protection.

Meeting face to face with Javadi, Saul gives the bomber a swift punch in the face at which point the episode ends.

Other events of the episode…

– Adal meets with Senator Lockhart. The latter tells Adal he wants a clean CIA when he becomes director in just over a week. This meeting recap is relayed back to Saul by Adal.

– A change for Dana. To help overcome her attachment to her father, Dana says to her mom that she wants to change her name to her mother’s maiden name Lazaro. Mom approves (and is also flattered), and Dana pays for the name change herself when they go to the courthouse. Things seem dandy, but later in the day Dana reveals she’s moving out of the family home. Arguing she “can’t live this life anymore,” Jessica’s upset but seems to come around. She gives her daughter a little money. May this be the end of the Dana plot thread?

Your ‘Homeland’ recap: What did you think?

Carrie’s pregnancy scare seems like a bizarre plot point to introduce, and the numerous positive tests seem even more strange. Could it have been some sort of side effect to her medicine? We’re also happy to see the Dana plot come to a conclusion that seems somewhat happy because it had to be done out of necessity.

We would like to see Saul turn Javadi in as quickly as possible, but a preview for next week makes it look like that will not be happening. Watch the sneak peek now, and catch Homeland season 3, episode 7 on Sunday, November 10.
