Bonnie & Clyde is being remade as a miniseries, and Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger have landed the coveted title roles.

TV Line reports that the A+E produced four-hour Bonnie & Clyde miniseries, which is currently in development, has cast Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) as Clyde Barrow, while Holliday Grainger (The Borgias) will play Bonnie Parker.

The (somewhat) true story of the outlaw couple Bonnie and Clyde was first dramatised in the iconic 1967 movie by the same name, which starred Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.

The miniseries will also star Holly Hunter as Bonnie’s mother, and William Hurt as a key Texas ranger who pursues the pair. It will be produced by Smash producer Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and will be directed by Bruce Beresford.

TV Line also notes that Miley Cyrus had originally been in talks to play Bonnie, but dropped out of the project. Do you think that she would have been a good Bonnie, or is Holliday Grainger a better fit for the role?

Do you think they got the casting right for this project? Are you looking forward to seeing Grainger and Hirsch reimagine these classic characters, and to see another version of the story?

The series will air on both the Lifetime and History channels.
