The real Hogwarts Express train at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion at Universal Orlando now has a train track in place.

A photo taken behind the scenes at Universal Orlando depicts an elevated track upon which the Hogwarts Express train will roll. The track will connect the existing Hogsmeade land at Islands of Adventure with the new London/Diagon Alley land at Universal Studios (the neighboring theme park). The two lands will create a massive Harry Potter world.

Other than construction photos that depicted what looks like a train station, this is the first time we have physical proof of the train elements.

There are still many questions as to what will be happening on the Hogwarts Express as you take the ride. You will probably not be able to look out real windows because you’d have an unattractive view of the backstage areas of Universal. Instead, you may be looking at virtual screens that make you feel like you’re looking out real windows at an English countryside. Rumors in recent months have suggested that the Harry Potter cast filmed additional scenes for the train ride.

In February we showed you high-res overhead shots of the construction site. The third photo at the link gives you a look at the construction between Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley where you can see metal objects in place to support the train track pictured above.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion is rumored to be opening in June 2014 if progress remains on track.

The new Harry Potter world is shaping up to be an impressive technical feat. Other features of the expansion reportedly include a Gringotts bank thrill ride, The Leaky Cauldron restaurant, and new shops.
