A Reddit AMA hosted by Bette Midler has reignited a surge of support for Hocus Pocus 2.

It all started when Midler, who plays Winifred in the witch-themed classic, hosted an “Ask Me Anything” session on Reddit earlier this week. When the actress was asked about the possibility of a Hocus Pocus sequel, Midler said that it was up to Disney.

“You have to go to send in your cards to the Walt Disney company,” she said. “The ball’s in their court.”

After this response, Midler added an update to her original AMA post to clarify what she meant. “Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are wiling to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney company. You have been SO adorable. This has been most enlightening. SISTAHS!”

Following these encouraging remarks, Hocus Pocus co-star Kathy Najimy (Mary) issued a statement. “I have read Bette’s quote and I agree The outpouring of love from Hocus-ites has been astounding. The creativity of their Sanderson sisters costumes, posters, artwork, T-shirts, statues, TV stills, photos, compliments and line quotes have blown up social media and I want them to know.. We see and appreciate it all. When a film is being shot, you never quite know the impact.. If it’ll be a hit or a miss, and..with this one…we hear y’all loud and clear! A sequel is totally in The Disney company’s hands– And it will be exciting to see what transpires!”

A couple days later, a reporter asked the third witch, Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah) if she’d be interested in Hocus Pocus 2. Her response?

While this is all nice to hear, there are a couple important things to keep in mind: There’s no Hocus Pocus 2 script, and there’s no interest at the studio on public record.

And even if Disney wants to do this, there are those pesky contract negotiations. While all three actresses seem very up for this, the money would have to be right.
