Director Peter Jackson also revealed recently that The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ teaser trailer will be released soon, with the full trailer premiering in October.

He released a statement saying, “Many of you asked about the Hobbit Trailer. Yes – there will be a Hobbit Trailer. But like the previous two years, it’s not going to be released until around Oct. The complex VFX work required to produce the battle shots we’re all wanting to see are not far enough along yet.”

Jackson then revealed that, “I finished work on a Teaser Trailer and that has just been delivered to Warner Bros. So no doubt this Teaser Trailer will be making it’s way into the world sometime soon…”

While we won’t be getting the full trailer until October, we should be getting the first footage of The Battle of the Five Armies near the end of this week when it premieres at Comic-Con 2014.

In The Desolation of Smaug, we saw the film’s dragon, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, on his way to Laketown right before the film went to black, ending in somewhat of a controversial cliffhanger. Now we see in this first poster that Smaug will face off against Bard, played by Luke Evans, in the film.

We look forward to seeing the aftermath of Smaug’s Laketown attack, and more importantly the Battle of the Five Armies, which refers to the fight between the Goblins and the Wargs against the Men of Dale, the Elves, the Dwarves, the Eagles and a Shape-shifter.
