Speaking in a new interview, Bilbo Baggins actor Martin Freeman has revealed that he’ll be filming more scenes for The Hobbit in just a few months.

Warner Bros. and Peter Jackson announced that The Hobbit would be split into three films rather than the plan of two last year, and at that time there were questions concerning how much extra filming would be needed to make a third movie.

UPDATE: Watch our video interview with Martin Freeman where he talks The Hobbit and more!

The answer? Two months worth. “I am going back at the end of May for all of June and July,” he told Hollywood.com. “I suppose the thing is, this is not finished. We literally have to go and finish it. It’s not a new adventure like on a television show. It’s the same story. It’s the same gig I started in January 2011. I think it’ll be really fun because the crew is quite close and the cast are close and we like working on it. I’m anticipating it.”

Freeman seemingly has a packed schedule over the next few months for two of his most highly-anticipated projects. He told us recently he’ll begin filming Sherlock series three next week, and we presume he won’t have much time off in between Sherlock and The Hobbit filming.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in theaters this December. The Hobbit: There and Back Again premieres December 2014. Last week, Warner Bros. had decided to push the third and final film from July 2014 to December 2014.

The purpose of Freeman’s additional Hobbit filming is unclear. Will he shoot more scenes for The Desolation of Smaug or There and Back Again? Or both?

We spoke with Freeman in anticipation of An Unexpected Journey’s DVD/Blu-ray release, and we’ll have our interview up in a couple days.
