Two new pieces of promotional art for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug have been released.

The first new The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug piece of artwork released is from the Barrels out of Bond scene. We got a brief look at this scene back when the trailer was released, but this gives us a chance to look at it a bit closer.

Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit will notice that the scene in the movie is shaping up to be a bit different than the one in the book. In the book, Bilbo of course hides the dwarves in the barrels before sending them down the river. In the movie, it looks like they won’t be hidden at all, just using the barrels as boats.

It’s also important to point out that this image is clearly artwork and not a still from the movie. It has been photoshopped a great deal, much like downloadable desktop backgrounds.

The second piece of artwork released is a new poster that largely features the eye of Smaug (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch). In Smaug’s eye you can see the reflection of Bilbo. If we had to guess, this is probably the scene where Bilbo riddles Smaug the tale of the journey so far.
