The biopic of the great filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johanson, and Jessica Biel has received its first trailer!

Hitchcock stars Anthony Hopkins (Thor) in the title role, along with Helen Mirren (The Queen), Scarlett Johanson (The Avengers), Jessica Biel (7th Heaven), and Michael Stuhlbarg (Boardwalk Empire). Below is the trailer, seeing that the plot follows Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville (Mirren) while filming his timeless 1960 horror film, Psycho.

A new poster has also surfaced today, which you can see below:

Psycho is one of the top-grossing black-and-white films of all time. While it received mixed reviews from critics, the public loved the psychological thriller. Hitchcock filmed it on a $800,000 budget and it received $11.2 million at the box office.

Hitchcock lived from 1899 – 1980 and directed 67 films throughout his life. He directed many famous actors from his time period, including Jimmy Stewart (It’s A Wonderful Life) and Cary Grant (Arsenic and Old Lace). He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director five times, but never won. However, his film Rebecca was nominated eleven times in the 1940 Academy Awards and won Best Picture that year.

Sacha Gervasi, who wrote The Terminal, is directing, and Black Swan screenwriter John J. McLaughlin penned this biopic.

Hitchcock hits limited theaters in the U.S. on November 23. What do you think of the trailer and poster? Will you see the film in theaters? Do you think it’ll be up for any Academy Awards?
