How I Met Your Mother season 9, episode 13, “Bass Player Wanted”  airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. We may know a good bassist for Barney and Robin.

After taking last week off, How I Met Your Mother returns to its cozy 8 p.m. CBS time slot tonight with what promises to be an interesting episode.

Perhaps feeling guilty that they kept us from the gang last week, CBS has offered up two extended looks at tonight’s episode.

First up is a surprisingly monumental moment to reveal in a trailer: Marshall meeting “The Mother”*

Christin Miloti as the Mother continues to be a delight. Of course she would be the one to take Marshall the last of the way to Farhampton. And we’re now 13 episodes in and she has met everyone but Ted and Robin. Obviously the Ted moment is what we’ve all been waiting for but the writers were probably wise to save Robin second to last.

Additionally, Andrew Rannells of Girls and The Book of Mormon guest stars as a slightly mysterious wedding guest.

Who is this dapperly dressed man and how do Barney and Robin know him?

If another appearance from Milloti and a Broadway star doesn’t get you excited, showrunner Craig Thomas also tweeted out this little tidbit.

Fingers crossed for “You Just Got Slapped.”

*Do we like that we don’t know “The Mother’s” name yet?  It’s nice that they’re keeping in the mystery aspect of the show’s 9-year run but the term “The Mother” just sounds creepy…like a cult leader.

Their video player can get a little spotty, but it’s hard to beat that low, low cost of free. iTunes also offers How I Met Your Mother episodes for purchase, but currently does not have a season pass option set up.
