Helen Mirren’s next big screen project will find her portraying yet another world leader.

According to Variety, Academy Award winner Helen Mirren has signed on to star as Israel’s Prime Minister Golda Meir in the upcoming drama, Golda.

Directed by Oscar winner Guy Nattiv, Golda follows the titular Iron Lady of Israel as she finds herself having to make a series of high stakes decisions in light of the Yom Kippur War.

The war, which took place in October 1973, sparked when a coalition of Arab states comprised of Egypt, Syria, and Jordan launched a surprise attack against Israel. Fought in Sinai and the Golan Heights, the coalitions’ intent was to seize the east bank of the Suez Canal and eventually use that as a bargaining chip to barter for the return of the rest of Sinai.

Joining Nattiv behind the camera is Florence Foster Jenkins scribe, Nicholas Martin, who has written the screenplay, which details Mier’s plight to make moves that will save as many lives as possible.

In a statement, Nattiv, who was born during the Yom Kippur War, spoke of working with both Martin and Mirren to bring the story of Golda Mier to life.

“Nicholas Martin’s brilliant script dives into Golda’s final chapter as the country faces a deadly surprise attack during the holiest day of the year, a core of delusional generals undermining Golda’s judgment, all the while undergoing secret treatments for her illness,” said Nattiv. “I could not be more excited to work with the legendary [Helen Mirren] to bring this epic, emotional and complex story to life.”

Golda, starring Helen Mirren, does not yet have a release date.
