The Leftovers is set to premiere this summer on HBO. Check out the newest trailer and take a first look at the poster!

Set to a cover of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, the latest trailer from HBO’s new summer drama, The Leftovers tackles the stages of grief. A majority of the citizens living in Mapleton appear to be working through the anger stage of the healing process.

Based on the novel by Tom Perrotta, the show’s 10-episode run will follow Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux), the chief of police, who is trying to raise his sons in a world set three years after 2% of the population suddenly disappears. In the small town there are those residents, Kevin included, who try to move on with life as usual, but the “Acceptance” stage is further off for more people than they wish to believe.

‘The Leftovers’ Poster:

In our previous post, the first trailer shows a town plagued by the constant media, and statuesque reminders of the day their loved ones vanished into thin air. Those “still here” work through different types of adaptation. The extremes vary between joining cults to the residents trying to ignore the fact that roughly 140 million people suddenly left the Earth.

The newest trailer looks at those extremes through the five stages of grief.

‘The Leftovers’ Trailer:

The trailer does little to offer more insight into the show’s premise, but it does cast an eerie feeling over the cast of characters viewers are set to meet this summer. The repeating flash of “Anger” hints that the residents of Mapleton did not fully process their anger during the first three years following the event. Emotions are brewing and are about to boil over in violent ways.

Be sure to tune into The Leftovers premiering Sunday, June 29 at 10:00 p.m. ET on HBO.
