In two new clips from The Newsroom season 2, episode 8, “Election Night, Part 1” we see Jim’s honest mistake that surely turns into a major blunder and possibly one of the funniest scenes we’ve ever had on The Newsroom.

The first clip from The Newsroom season 2, episode 8, “Election Night, Part 1” is quite possibly the funniest scene we have had yet on The Newsroom, and no, that’s not just hyperbole.

In the scene, Elliot, Sloan, and Taylor, the last of which fans will remember as the bane of Jim’s existence during his short stint on the road with the Romney campaign, are prepping for the Election Night broadcast in the makeup room and they get into a little squabble about who called dibs on a particularly interesting congressional race. We then get to see Jim call rank on Taylor, as their roles have been a bit reversed from the Romney press bus, and finally the scene ends with Maggie and Taylor bonding over a little Jim hate.

The second clip from The Newsroom season 2, episode 8, “Election Night, Part 1” is definitely a little more on the serious side as Jim makes an honest mistake as he scribbles down the wrong state abbreviation for a confirmed Congressional race, creating potential problem number one for this episode.

This season has progressively gotten better and better and we can’t wait to see what Sorkin and company have in store for us in the next two episodes.

If we were at all disappointed at the beginning of the season to learn that we would only be getting nine episodes this year, those feelings were quickly demolished by the quality of the show. The Newsroom has been consistently great in season 2, and surely Sorkin will knock our socks off with “Election Night, Part 1” and “Election Night, Part 2.”

What are you most looking forward to in the last two episodes of ‘The Newsroom’ season 2?
