Casting on HBO Max’s Peacemaker series starring John Cena is picking up steam.

Update (2/1/21): According to Deadline, actors Elizabeth Faith Ludlow and Rizwan Manji have both officially joined the cast of the upcoming Suicide Squad spinoff series.

Both Ludlow and Manji have been cast in recurring roles. Specifically, they’ll be playing Keeya and Jamil, respectively.
Unfortunately, fans itching to find out more about their respective characters will have to sit tight for now.

As with a lot of the details surrounding the James Gunn-led spinoff series, details about both characters are being kept firmly under wraps for now.

Ludlow and Manji join previously announced cast member Steve Agee, who boarded the cast of Peacemaker back in October of last year.

He’ll be taking on the role of Belle Reve Federal Prison Warden, John Economos, whom we’ve met before. You can brush up on what we know about the character of John Economos below.

Original Story (10/29/2020):

HBO Max’s Peacemaker is adding fellow The Suicide Squad vet, Steve Agee, to its cast.

According to Deadline, actor Steve Agee has officially signed on to appear opposite John Cena in HBO Max’s upcoming Peacemaker series.

Like Cena, Agee also stars in James Gunn’s forthcoming The Suicide Squad movie and will be reprising his role for the spinoff series.

Specifically, Agee will reprise his role of Belle Reve Federal Prison warden, John Economos. He also happens to be an aide to high ranking government official, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).

The series, which was announced late last month, is set to explore the origins of the titular anti-hero. DC Comics fans will likely be all to familiar with Peacemaker— a master of weapons, who’s not above some extreme means to achieve peace.

In addition to Cena and Agee, The Suicide Squad director and writer, James Gunn, is also on board to help bring the HBO Max series to life.

Gunn is set to write all eight episodes of the live-action series, in addition to serving as director of the pilot episode, as well as a few others.

In a statement announcing the series, Gunn said: “Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into the current world issues through the lens of this superhero/supervillain/and world’s biggest douchebag. I’m excited to expand The Suicide Squad and bring this character from the DC film universe to the full breadth of a series.”

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect the series to debut via HBO Max.
