HBO Max’s Peacemaker series has found its newest star in Freddie Stroma.

According to Deadline, Harry Potter and Bridgerton vet, Freddie Stroma is the latest to join the cast of the upcoming Peacekeeper series at HBO Max.

Spearheaded by James Gunn (The Suicide Squad, Guardians of the Galaxy), Peacemaker is set to explore the origins of the titular character— a master of weapons who isn’t above going to some extreme means to achieve peace.

Fro his part, Stroma is set to take on the role of Vigilante in the upcoming The Suicide Squad spinoff series. The Bridgerton vet takes over the role from Chris Conrad, who exited the series as a result of creative differences.

For the uninitiated, Vigilante is known for his skills in hand-to-hand combat, as well as for being a sharp shooting marksman. Formerly a New York City DA who went by the name of Adrian Chase, he started taking the matter of seeking justice into his own hands after a group of mobsters murdered his wife and kids.

Freddie Stroma joins previously announced cast members Elizabeth Faith Ludlow, Rizwan Manji, and Steve Agee.

Both Ludlow and Manji have been cast in recurring roles, and will be playing Keeya and Jamil, respectively. Meanwhile, Agee will reprise his role of Belle Reve Federal Prison warden, John Economos.

All four aforementioned cast members will star opposite John Cena, who will reprise his The Suicide Squad role as the titular character for the HBO Max series.

HBO Max’s Peacemaker series is expected to debut sometime in 2022. The Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 6, 2021.
