Production on HBO Max’s Green Lantern series has made some major strides by finding its writers and showrunner.

According to Deadline, the studio has tapped Seth Grahame-Smith and Marc Guggenheim to serve as writers on the streamer’s upcoming Green Lantern series.

Both Grahame-Smith and Guggenheim are no strangers to the world of superheroes. Grahame-Smith’s credits include writing the blockbuster hit, The Lego Batman Movie, meanwhile, Guggenheim is likely best knowing for being a co-creator on Arrow.

Guggenheim’s involvement with the HBO Max series also serves as a bit of a full-circle moment for the scribe, who also previously served as a writer on the 2011 Green Lantern movie.

In addition to serving as writer on the series along with Grahame-Smith, Guggenheim has also been tasked with serving as showrunner on the Greg Berlanti-produced adaptation.

We’ve gotten a few details with regards to what the series will center on since it was first announced to be in development.

Specifically, during a TCA presentation at the beginning of the year, HBO Max’s head of original content, Sarah Aubrey, revealed that the forthcoming series would span across “several decades and focus on two stories about Green Lantern on Earth.”

Additionally, Aubrey also let slip that one of the storylines that would take place in space would find the series delving into the Sinestro story.

Sinestro, who was once a member of Green Lantern Corps before ultimately being disonorably discharged for abusing his power, was last seen as part of the 2011 big screen adaptation which found Ryan Reynolds starring as Hal Jordan.

No casting announcements have been made for HBO Max’s new show, but we’ll be looking forward to seeing who the studios tap to star in the upcoming series!
